Stepping into Het Mastboomhuis in Oud-Gestel is like stepping back in time. Our recent guided tour through this hidden historical gem offered a fascinating glimpse into the life of its last resident, Jacques Mastboom, and the rich history preserved within its walls.
Unlike a traditional museum, Het Mastboomhuis remains largely untouched, with its original furnishings, books, and personal belongings still in place. The house tells the story of a bygone era, offering an intimate look at daily life from the early 20th century. Our guide shared intriguing insights about the Mastboom family and how the house evolved over the years while staying true to its past.
As we walked through the beautifully preserved rooms, we could almost feel the presence of the past—each detail, from the antique furniture to the handwritten notes, reflecting a life once lived in quiet elegance. The experience sparked engaging discussions about heritage, preservation, and the importance of keeping local history alive.
The tour was not only educational but also a wonderful opportunity to come together and appreciate a piece of Oud-Gestel’s cultural heritage. A big thank you to our guide for sharing their knowledge and to everyone who joined for making this visit such a memorable one!
If you haven’t yet visited Het Mastboomhuis, it’s truly worth exploring.
