A Festive Visit to Huis Doorn

In December, the month of Christmas, we took a guided tour of Huis Doorn Castle. The perfect way to get in a festive mood.

The house was fully decked out for the Christmas season, allowing us to experience the Christmas atmosphere just as it was when the estate served as an imperial residence.

Huis Doorn was the final place of exile for the German Emperor Wilhelm II.

Following Germany’s defeat in the First World War, he fled to neutral the Netherlands in 1918.

He purchased the castle in 1920 and lived there until his death in 1941.

Before starting our guided tour, we enjoyed an excellent lunch at a restaurant in Doorn.
